To understand today the importance of Gran Selezione in Chianti Classico, we need to go back in time when some producers began to realize the great possibilities of this denomination.
At Castello di Querceto we opened the doors of our hundred-year old cellar, organizing a vertical tasting of 8 great vintages of Chianti Classico “Il Picchio” Gran Selezione.
We opened with Christian Eder of VINUM magazine bottles going from vintage 1990 to 2013, and tasted the potential of this Chianti Classico, for which the definition of crus has a truly special meaning that enriched every harvest with shades and accents constantly repeated.
